Dawn, Fla. (AP) — Sergei Bobrovsky made 31 saves, Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaege each had two objectives and a help, and the Florida Pumas beat the Tampa Sound Lightning 6-1 in Game 5 on Monday night to secure their first-round series and advance in the NHL end of the season games.
Niko Mikkola had an objective and a help, Evan Rodrigues likewise scored and Matthew Tkachuk had two helps for the Jaguars, who won a season finisher series against Tampa Cove without precedent for establishment history and secured a postseason series at home for just the fourth time. Florida dominated Boston and Philadelphia on home ice in the initial two rounds of the 1996 end of the season games, then dispensed with Carolina at home in last season's Eastern Meeting finals on the way to their subsequent Stanley Cup Last debut.
Victor Hedman scored for the Lightning, which was disposed of in the primary round for the second consecutive year subsequent to arriving at the Last three straight years. Andrei Vasilevsky halted 33 shots.
Barkov gave Florida a 2-0 lead when he jumped on a bounce back for an under-staffed objective — his first of the end of the season games — at 7:22 of the subsequent period. He added one more at 8:54 of a four-objective third to reestablish the Jaguars' two-objective pad after Hedman got the Lightning on the board 59 seconds after Barkov's most memorable score.
The Pumas had 22 shots on objective in the second, which is the second-most in a solitary time of a season finisher game in establishment history. Florida had 23 shots in the third time of a season finisher win against Pittsburgh in 1996.
Verhaeghe opened scoring for the Jaguars with a four-on-four objective only 45 seconds into the subsequent period. Verhaeghe got his own bounce back and wristed a shot past Vasilevsky.
Rodrigues added a score just in case with under six minutes left to play on a wrist shot that was his most memorable objective of the end of the season games, and Verhaeghe scored a void netter with just shy of four minutes to play to extend his establishment record objectives all out to 20. Mikkola added another void netter almost three minutes after the fact.
Anthony Cirelli seemed to have scored Tampa Straight's most memorable objective when he tapped a free puck past Bobrovsky with seven minutes left in the principal period. The objective was upset, notwithstanding, after the Pumas tested for goaltender obstruction. Previous Jaguar Anthony Duclair's right skate connected with Bobrovsky as he was attempting to make the save.
The Lightning had one more objective waved off in the second time span when Mikhail Sergachev seemed to tie it on a long-range shot from the blue line. The objective was quickly waved off due to goaltender impedance by Cirelli, and maintained after a bombed Tampa Sound test.
The Lightning's NHL-best strategic maneuver during the ordinary season was conflicting in this first round. Tampa Cove enjoyed two man-benefits in the initial 10 minutes of the initial time frame — Florida killed them both off — and completed the game 0 for 3 .
